GHS conceived of a Hand Center that consisted of a Hand Surgery space in combination with a Hand Therapy group. The team took an outdated ‘70s style MOB, gutted it, updated all (Mech, Electrical, FP and utilities) systems, and brought it up to code – including accessibility standards. The physicians upstairs wanted to add an internal circulation system to unify the two floors. They needed traditional exam rooms but with small, custom, hand exam tables. The therapists preferred an open layout on the lower level but still needed some staff areas away from clients. This combination of services brought efficiencies between the two practice groups by sharing common spaces, equipment and staff.
