Travelers Rest High School was designed under the Institutional Resources program where all of the County Schools were all brought up to similar standards. They sought efficiencies by using similar mechanical systems, roofing systems and construction techniques. This design is similar to Woodmont High School.
Important components of any High School are their athletic facilities. These take up most of the site, dominate the site circulation, and comprise a large portion of the building itself. The site had to be designed to handle large crowds for spectator events and the associated parking. This brought into play the associated needs for seating, access, service, restrooms, and concessions.
The daylit Building has a full sized gym, practice gyms, support space, storage and lobby space. There are locker rooms, toilets and shower facilities for home teams as well as visiting teams of both genders.
